DR. JANINE NEGRON PT, DPT

Dance Medicine Specialist

Dr. Janine Negron PT, DPT discovered her passion for Physical Therapy following a series of injuries sustained during her years as a professional dancer. After undergoing extensive therapy she realized there was a need in the industry for more practitioners who understood dancers, gymnasts, and the active population, thus began her journey. 

 

Dr. Negron graduated from Seton Hall University in 2017 earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Prior, Janine earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education at the University of the Arts in 2006 and danced professionally with New Jersey Music and Dance Company. Additionally she is Owner/Founder of an award winning dance studio, Janine Elizabeth’s Academy of Dance. She is a Board Certified Physical Therapist and NJ State Certified Dance Instructor as well as a Member of the National Dance Education Organization, International Association for Dance Medicine and Sciences, and the American Physical Therapy Association.

Dr. Negron has treated dancers and performers from New Jersey Ballet Company, Papermill Playhouse, and various local dance studios in the tri-state area. In addition, she has worked with professional and pre-professional athletes at Thryve Healing and Performance, New York Sports Science Lab, and with NJFassst, as well as with patients in Inpatient Acute Care Hospital setting, and school-based pediatric setting using the Neurodevelopmental Treatment approach. Janine uses her unique background in dance, acrobatic, Pilates, and yoga to provide tailored, creative, and effective treatment plans, exercise programs, and neuromuscular reeducation. 

Dr. Negron brings energy, creativity, and compassion to Performing Arts Physical Therapy and readily passes her love for health, wellness, and fitness onto her patients.

Tyler Beriault, SPT

Cross Training Specialist

Tyler Beriault is a native to Farmingdale, New Jersey and began dancing when she was 5 years old. She attended The Academy of Dance Arts studying classical ballet and modern. She performed in numerous productions put on by ADA’s performing affiliate, The Company of Dance Arts. After graduating high school, Tyler attended the University of South Carolina where she earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography with a ballet emphasis and Economics while on a Pre-Physical Therapy track. While at UofSC, she trained under former New York City Ballet soloist, Stacy Calvert, Jennifer Deckert, André Megerdchian, Tayna Wideman-Davis, Thaddeus Davis, and Olivia Waldrop. Tyler performed in original the George Balanchine works Serenade, Western Symphony, and more.

 

After dealing with various injuries herself, Tyler had decided that she wanted to pursue physical therapy to specifically work with dancers. Tyler began interning for Dr. Negron in the summer of 2021 to start her education of physical therapy in the performing arts. Tyler is finishing up her first year in Columbia University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy Class of 2026. During her time at Columbia, Tyler has been privileged enough to partake in an integrated clinical experience at Columbia Orthopedics where the therapists are localized in scoliosis, disc herniations, and many other spinal pathologies.

Brighid McGahran 

Office Manager

​Brighid is from Middletown, NJ and began to train in ballet at age 11. Throughout her years training she came to Dr. Negron for knee and hip pain, and learned all about anatomy and exercise. After dancing as a trainee with the Cincinnati Ballet this past year as a senior in high school, she decided to take a different path and is going to the Fashion Institute of Technology in the fall to major in Adversising and Marketing Communications + economics. She is so excited to be back working with Dr. Negron and the great team!

Tyron-Eugene T. Howard

PTA (He/They)

Tyron is a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant specializing in performing arts rehabilitation and injury prevention. A proud graduate of Union County College’s accredited PTA program, they combine clinical expertise with a deep appreciation for the physical demands of dance, theater, and musical performance.
 

A lifelong performer, Tyron began their journey in musical theatre at the age of eight, developing a strong foundation in storytelling, voice, and stage presence. Over time, their passion evolved toward dance, where they honed their technique and deepened their understanding of movement. With years of experience both on stage and behind the scenes, Tyron brings a unique perspective to the world of performing arts and physical therapy, blending creativity with clinical insight to support artists at every stage of their careers.
 

With a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic techniques, Tyron has worked closely with athletes to address injuries, improve movement efficiency, and support sustainable careers. They are passionate about bridging the gap between physical therapy and artistic expression, helping performers achieve their optimal physical potential both on and off stage.

Sophia Castellano

CPT

Sophia is a dancer, personal trainer, and Pilates instructor from Middletown, New Jersey. She began dancing at age 2 and developed her love for classical ballet at the Academy of Dance Arts in Tinton Falls, continuing her training at The School of American Ballet, The Rock School for Dance Education, Kaatsbaan, and Carolina Ballet. Sophia has successfully competed at the Youth America Grand Prix in the Semi Finals and New York City Finals. She has also completed several Royal Academy of Dance examinations, receiving the highest honor of "Distinction" on all exams taken.

In the summer of 2023, she was offered a trainee position with Carolina Ballet, where she trained and performed alongside the company in productions such as Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, The Nutcracker, and more. 

Following a major knee injury, Sophia underwent reconstructive surgery and began physical therapy with Dr. Negron. That experience led her to become a certified personal trainer through the National Federation of Professional Trainers and to complete a 600-hour comprehensive classical Pilates certification with Real Pilates in New York City. Drawing from her own recovery, Sophia is passionate about helping dancers build strength, move with confidence, and prevent injuries so they can keep doing what they love. She’s thrilled to be working behind the scenes with Performing Arts Physical Therapy. At the end of the summer, Sophia will be moving to Chicago to continue her dance career.
